I didn't need a tea kettle to heat the water then and then I would have to pour it in a teapot w/infuser to steep (felt redundant). I wanted the a teapot/kettle to do it all and this match the invoice. While the box does now not mouth anything about being rangetop protected, it's indeed alright to warmth on the stove (medium flame).
The infuser works great, and used to be good for serving a pot of tea.
